CharityWorkouts.org is building a fun community of fitness oriented individuals who want to stay in shape and support their local community. We workout together, play together, and raise money for local charities! All donations go to help San Diego charities as well as local troubled/at-risk youth.

All classes are taught by Brian Bischof and we have drop in instructors to help with the yoga training. Click the Location tab at the top for directions.

6/16/2013 – Our next workout is June 16th! Come join us!

3/3/2013 We’re back in action! I’m fully healed from my injury and ready to start teaching again! We have a new format called ‘Cardio Yoga’. It is a fusion of yoga poses and fitness exercises. The yoga poses reduce anxiety and tone your muscles. The fitness moves will burn calories, increase your resting heart rate, and strengthen specific muscle groups. It’s a great combination! We also do a lot of partner exercises and meet for tea/coffee after each workout. So it’s a great way to meet new people who care about our community and want to get fit. :-)

When and Where

We meet every Sunday at 9:50 am. The workout starts at 10am and lasts almost an hour. We meet at the corner of 5th and Redwood. Please check at the top of this page for where we are meeting this Sunday.

Past Updates

11/7/2010: CharityWorkouts.org got 2nd Place in the StayClassy.org annual awards. Every year StayClassy.org accepts nominations for top charities and fundraisers in different cities across the country. We were nominated for “Most Successful Fundraiser by an Individual/Group” and we came in second place in San Diego. Very exciting! Next year we will work harder to shoot for First Place!

8/1/2010: We’re adding a new charity! In addition to helping out the great organization www.OutdoorOutreach.org, we are now donating money to Kids Included Together. KIT specializes in including children with disabilities into their existing recreational, social and child care programs. My goal is to raise $1,000 this year for KIT. See http://www.kitonline.org for more information about KIT.

7/1/2010: Outdoor Outreach is having their annual fund raiser in Joshua Tree in October. I’ve been every year and I can’t wait to go again. This is their biggest fund raiser of the year and it’s also the most fun. We will spend the weekend rock climbing, slacklining, scrambling through caves and much more. Each person has to raise $350 to be able to go. All the money I raise in the workouts goes to Outdoor Outreach. You can donate directly on my Joshua Tree fund raiser page if you like! http://www.stayclassy.org/member/fundraising?fcid=1373

3/1/2010: February was a shorter month, and the rain kept the turnouts a little smaller this month, so $443 was collected. $343 will be donated to Outdoor Outreach to support San Diego’s at-risk youth, and $100 will be donated to Colette Harding Contemporay Dance Company to support the local arts.

2/1/2010: $700 was donated in January! It’s our biggest month ever with 20-30 people at every workout. $500 was donated to www.OutdoorOutreach.org and $220 was donated to Pit Bull Rescue of San Diego (http://www.pbrsd.org)

1/1/2010: End of year update: Over 300 adults have worked out with us in 2009 and donated $4,000 to www.OutdoorOutreach.org!

11/2009: City Beat magazine names Brian the “Push-up Philanthropist” in the 2009 Best Of San Diego issue. City Beat Best of 2009

4/1/2009: Brian gets the Volunteer of the Quarter award from Outdoor Outreach for his work at the boot camps. http://outdooroutreach.org/sponsors/CharityWorkout.htm

1/4/2009: Today was Charity Workout’s first workout ever and it was a great success. Thanks to everyone who came out to support this idea of working out for charity. Let’s hope things keep going this well and the group thrives. :-D

Cost

All workouts are based on voluntary donations. If you can donate $5, great. If not, no worries. With today’s economy, having a low cost/free workout alternative to expensive gym memberships is more necessary than ever. What’s most important is spreading awareness about our great local charities that do so much to help the youth in our community. So remember to bring a friend with you as well!
